Risk Assessment

Risk Analysis & Management Review

Overview

In discussing the Tournaments with Sport Hawke's Bay they recommended that it was important that we identify areas of potential accident and also brief participates on remedies.

PLEASE MAKE SURE you MAKE all PLAYERS aware of the hazards and issues.

The following potential hazards were identified;

  1. Hot showers the ladies and men's toilets in the clubrooms. All temperatures should be tested before using these showers. The showers are cold in the changing rooms.

  2. Fixed bases. You should brief all players on the dangers of fixed bases and the potential of breaking a leg if you slide incorrectly. Please ensure you are aware of the diamond base make up before you commence play.

  3. Car Park - all persons using the car park should ensure access to the park is kept free to allow emergency vehicles access to the grounds. Traffic tickets will be issues to any vehicles blocking the Willowpark Road entrance to the park. Vehicles may be towed away if it is considered to be obstructing emergency vehicle access to the park. This will be at the vehicles owner's expense.

Please drive slowly in the car park, and exiting the park.

  1. A small stream runs along the south side of the park. This is a very dangerous area for young children. Young children should not be left unsupervised around this area. We have some of the area, but not the area that boarders the clubrooms.

  2. The grandstands are provided for seating, children should be supervised if using the stands.

  3. Foul balls – it is important that you look after each other for foul balls. The balls are very hard and you should help each other by letting others know if a foul ball is coming towards them.

  4. Players in the outfield – with the park being so busy, please help your outfielders out so they avoid running into players, objects or supporters.

  5. Helmets – for safety reasons these must be worn. All other safety gears, as required by SNZ rules must be worn.

  6. Goal posts on Boys High – the winter code goals post have being put up. PLEASE PLEASE be aware that this is a hazards and you should ensure players avoid any danger.

  7. PLEASE no glass on the Park – only cans and no liquor on the playing diamonds

  2. St John Ambulance will be on duty both days – located past the outfield fence on Diamond 1 & 2. DO NOT BLOCK the car park entrance to the Park

  3. We have a first aid kit upstairs. Ice, for an emergency, is available from the bar.

  4. Details of the contacts, and location for emergency doctor etc, are contained in the info pack collected Friday Night and in the program

  5. In event of an accident requiring an ambulance, the Tournament Office will be having someone in attendance while all games are on. The Tournament Organiser will also carry at cellphone (027 4422935) for the purpose also.
