| History
The Tournament has had only three naming sponsors in 25 years, Fresh Up, Lion Red and now eTeamSport.co.nz. We thank Lion Red for the past support and recognise they will still continue to support the event. The eTeamSport.co.nz Fun in the Sun Men's & Women's Softball is in the 25th year. It has being organized and run by the same person for those 25 years. The Tournament was originally set up as the Stuart Hape Memorial Softball Tournament, in memory of Stuart Hape, a club member who was killed in a car accident outside Taupo while travelling to a softball Tournament in Taumarunui. We have included in the program an article on Stuart written by his sister. We will also have in the hall a board in memory of Stuart.
The Tournament host club was originally Dodgers Havelock North Softball club, the club merged with Wolves Softball Club in 1989 to form the Fastpitch Corporation Softball Club.
The Tournament changed from a memorial Tournament with the sponsorship from Fresh Up in 1986, and in then for sixteen years was been known as the Lion Red Fun in the Sun. Never ever rained out, in 24 years, here's hoping for another weekend of fine weather.

One club has attended all 25 Tournaments, the Avalon Dodgers club from Wellington. The team being called Dodgers Dynamos. They won the first year in 1982, and have won the event on two other occasions. Most of the original players from 1982 are still competing in the team. Some famous New Zealand players have competed in the event, Michael White the former Black Sox pitcher, Mike Walsh the current New Zealand White Sox Coach, and we have regular appearances from New Zealand men's leading players Fabian & Thomas Makea. A number of New Zealand players have also attended in there maturing softball years. Previous winning clubs read like a who's who of top North Island Softball Clubs, 1986 Poneke Kilbirnie, 1987 Miramar (This team included two former New Zealand Men's Captains), Auckland United won it in 1997 & 1998.
